Welcome to the Cottage Hill Baptist School web site, home for the K2-8th grade students of the Cottage Hill Baptist School System.

Our K2-8th grade School, along with our 9th-12th grade Academy, are part of the Cottage Hill Baptist School System which was established in 1961, and is recognized as the oldest evangelical school in the state of Alabama. Our school system is a Christian, college preparatory school that offers a superior educational opportunity for our students. We are a ministry of Cottage Hill Baptist Church, and were established for the purpose of impacting lives for eternity through biblically-based and Christ-centered education.

> Scholars Bowl Team Wins
Congratulations goes to the Middle School Scholars Bowl Team for their recent wins in the AISA Scholars Bowl Competitions. On March 31, the CHBS team competed in the District 2 Scholars Bowl Competition where the CHBS team defeated Clarke Prep Academy and Faith Academy to become the District 2 Champions. On Tues., Apr. 7, the team traveled to Montgomery, Al to compete in the AISA State Scholars Bowl Competition. The team finished 3rd in the state. The Scholars Bowl members are as follows: James Chappelle, Bethany Cobb, Kristyn Edwards, Christopher Harrison, Hannah Kibby, Blake Langley, Ben Morris, Matthew Scelsi, Mark Snyder, Warren Stringfellow, Karen Thomas, and Joshua Williams. Congratulations, team!
> Student Runs in Azalea Trail Fun Run
Congratulations goes to Victoria Morris, one of Cottage Hill's fifth graders for her recent participation in the 2009 Azalea Trail 2K Fun Run/Walk which was held on March 28. Victoria along with other runners and walkers started their race in downtown Mobile near Barton Academy and ended at the Mobile Civic Center.
> Students Win at Big 3 Track Meet
Congratulations goes to the fourteen 3rd-6th grade CHBS students who participated in the St. Luke's Big 3 Track Meet which was held on April 4 at the St. Luke's University Campus. Students from Cottage Hill, St. Luke's, and Faith Academy competed against each other in five events including the 50 meter dash, 100 meter dash, broad jump, softball throw, and javelin throw. Our CHBS students did an awesome job representing our school.

From our 3rd grade students we had, Hannah Green who placed first in the 50 meter dash, 100 meter dash and Broad Jump for third grade girls and she also placed second in the Softball Throw, Sara Hilburn competed in the 50 meter dash, 100 meter dash, Broad Jump and Softball Throw, Bailey Sheffield competed in the 50 meter dash, 100 meter dash, Broad Jump and Softball Throw.

From our 4th grade students we had Kaylee Bray who competed in the 50 meter dash which she placed third, 100 meter dash, Broad Jump placing fourth and Softball Throw.

From our 5th grade students we had Victoria Morris who competed in the 50 meter dash placing second, 100 meter dash placing first, Turbo Javelin placing first, Broad Jump placing first and Softball Throw placing first, Ashley McCauley competing in 50 meter dash placing first, Turbo Javelin placing second, Broad Jump placing second and Softball Throw placing second, Terrance Lambert competing in 50 meter dash placing third, 100 meter dash placing second, Turbo Javelin placing third, Broad Jump placing second and Softball Throw placing third, the fifth grade boys competed against sixth grade boys in all the competitions. Gavin Burnett competed in the 50 meter dash and 100 meter dash, Micah McDonald competed in the 50 meter dash and 100 meter dash.

From our 6th grade students we had Andrew Howell competing in the 50 meter dash placing third, 100 meter dash placing fourth, Broad Jump and Softball Throw, Jo Jo Taylor competing in the Broad Jump placing fourth and Softball Throw placing second, Payton Robinson competing in the 50 meter dash, 100 meter dash placing third and Broad Jump placing fourth, Cole Butler competing in the Broad Jump, Turbo Javelin and Softball Throw placing third, Bryant Parrish competing in the Broad Jump and Turbo Javelin placing second.

> Science Olympiad Team Receives Awards
Congratulations goes to the Science Olympiad Team for placing 3rd place overall out of 15 teams in the Science Olympiad Regional Competition which was held at the University of South Alabama on Sat. Feb. 7. The team brought home three 1st place medals, five 2nd place medals, and one 3rd place medal for the following events: Amphibians and Reptiles-2nd place, Anatomy-2nd place, Crave the Wave-2nd place, Dynamic Planet-1st place, Ecology-1st place, Environmental Chemistry-2nd place, Fossils-1st place, Pentathlon-3rd place, and Reach for the Stars-2nd place. This 3rd place overall qualified the team to compete at the State Level at Huntingdon College on March 14. The team received three 1st place medals for Ecology, Road Scholar, and Dynamic Planet. They were also recognized for two 4th places in Write It, Do It, and Fossils. Congratulations, team!

> Math Team Wins 1st Place
Congratulations goes to the CHBS Math Team for placing 1st place in the AISA District Math Competition which was held at Faith Academy on Feb. 17. Congratulations also goes to Bethany Cobb for receiving the honor of District Champion. The team members are James Chappelle, Bethany Cobb, Delaney Grizzle, Riley Johnson, Hannah Kibby, and Eric Wesson. Congratulations, team!


> CHBS Students Make All State Orchestra
Congratulations goes to 7th grader, Hannah Vanderheiden, and 4th grader, Rachel Fleck for being invited to perform with the 2009 All State Orchestra. This orchestra is sponsored by Music Educators National Convention, Alabama Orchestra Association, National Endowment for the Arts and Alabama State Council on the Arts. The concert will take place on Thursday-Sunday, Feb. 12-15, at the University of Alabama. Congratulations, students!



> CHBS Receives Blue Ribbon Award
The Alabama Independent School Association announced that the Cottage Hill School System has attained the AISA Blue Ribbon School designation for the 2007-2008 school year. An AISA Blue Ribbon School exemplifies excellence in teaching, student performance, school life, and school and community interaction. A Blue Ribbon School award winner is an excellent school involved in an on-going process of school improvement. Congratulations, students, teachers, and staff!
